Jorge Posada Yankees Bench, Probably Forever
And 'the last thing any athlete wants to hear a coach: We consider ourselves a better team without you.
During the hearing, which is especially difficult for someone who has been so successful in his career in baseball, Jorge Posada (notes). But that conversation with the New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi, before a 3-2 defeat Sunday night for the Boston Red Sox.

Two months ago, Posada also appeared to take responsibility for her situation. But his actions spoke otherwise, when Girardi penciled him in ninth place in the eleven, and he said he could not play because of back pain. (It is interesting also held before a game against the Red Sox.)
Yankees GM Brian Cashman added more drama to the situation where he met the media during the game, Posada said, taken from the range. Worked in a frenzy, reporters surrounded Posada locker after the game, requesting a response to the comments Cashman. Posada took exception Cashman to speak with the media during the game, laughing "It's the way it works now."

Sunday's announcement was no such drama.
Posada has not had the opportunity to leave the Yankees this time interval. He was batting ninth. Girardi has no range at all, what Eric Chavez (notes) from start to designated hitter. (For what it's worth, Chavez hit 0 for 4 with three strikeouts on the night of Sunday.)
Last May, was beaten .165/.272/.349 Posada, Girardi decisions seem obvious. Posada better from there, apparently motivated by the light, and pushed his batting average in 0240, with a respectable .754 OPS. But it never really improved from there. As of Sunday, was hitting .230/.309/.372 and struggling through a drop of 1 to 13.

Chavez appears to be a better DH, hitting .323/.389/.431. But these figures can be found only in 72 appearances this season plate. However, Chavez can still play on the field, playing 18 games, third base. And Alex Rodriguez (Notes) is working his way back to the knee, the Yankees may need a little help in that position.
Ultimately, that could be what is really benching Posada. A-Rod might have to play at DH when he comes back first. This leaves an opening at third base, as Chavez is likely to meet - perhaps in a platoon with Eduardo Nunez (note). Chavez may also help the first time base, while Mark Teixeira (notes) DH. But it works, the Yankees now have greater flexibility range.

The Yankees have an option in the DH, to be called Jesus Montero (notes) of the Class AAA Scranton / Wilkes-Barre. The New York Post Joel Sherman, the team's preference is to go with Chavez in the first place. Rodriguez would probably have to prove he can play third base again before regular Montero may be required to take the role of full-time designated hitter.
Sitting on the bench is not the way anyone wants to see Posada's 17-year career at the end of the Yankees. But it was not published, presumably to avoid the drama in the clubhouse. And there's more baseball played on winning bets. Posada was hitting against the moderate right-handers, the average of .263/.340/.438, and all nine of his home runs. Perhaps he has contributed to the left in this season.
But it might be a little '- a long time - before the opportunity comes around to him.
