Tim Drive Far To Turn Around And Is Now Publicly Supporting Gay Rights
It usually happens when a celebrity is a diatribe against offensive touch or compassion, or both at the same time, the real hope for stopping the rain expected to the voice behind the tirade, again more intelligently thinking. And, as is the case, simply run the standard "to which I may have offended" apology before leaving.
Former NBA All-Star Tim Hard Away, which has notorious and proudly pronounced its homophobia in a radio interview four years ago, was little more than forward. He not only took a kinder image of the LGBT community, but it is also up for those trying to defend their rights. A resident of Chicago and Miami native was back in El Paso, Texas, this week (where he attended college) to provide support to a trio of politicians who are in danger of being recalled because of their attitude to gay rights.
El Paso Times, can it from here:
In town for a golf tournament, Hardaway attended a press conference, urging citizens to oppose the recall effort against Mayor John Cook and Susie Byrd City Representatives and Steve Ortega. The three are being recalled by a group of religious conservatives who are angry all three voted to restore health benefits to homosexual couples and unmarried employees of the city - despite a ballot initiative in November that abolished .
I have absolutely no idea what other policies Cook, Ortega, and Byrd may be a help in their public services, but health benefits for their families? I think it's something most of us can get behind, right? And if you can not, maybe take a deep breath and read this far has hard after telling a radio station in 2007 that gays "should not be in America."
Tim?
"I opened my eyes and went to the board," he said Thursday.
And for those who are in the same place four years ago?
"I would say grow up and make up the time," he said. "It's the world."
Very cool. Does not take much more time to spend an afternoon in the middle of a week of golf and summer relaxation, to make a difference. Sweet Cross, Tim.
