At the advice of his Wisconsin-born girlfriend, Valentin contact the staff of Green Bay and called the possibility of walking on the team. Wardle said he came away impressed by Valentin after the first meeting.
"I will never forget this conversation with Eric," said Wardle. "I was impressed. I did not know who he was, but I did my background check and found everything he said was true and that he was more humble than M says the day at the office. To be able to give a full scholarship for one year, is probably one of the best feelings of my coaching career. "
Valentin appeared in only five games last season for Green Bay and scored only six points in total, but found other ways to contribute to the team.

"I am a great good friend, Penny Pincher," he said. "I've always enjoyed the free food you get on the road and I'm going to try not to change. I'm going to try not to go into any shopping sprees and buy lots of shoes. I'm a saver so I'm sure is great to be saved. "
