Tom Brady Tells Fans To Drink Early, Pats Claim That He Wanted Water
When asked at a news conference Wednesday notoriously quiet crowd Gillette Stadium, Tom Brady (notes) issued a clip-in-cheek message for fans attending the first home game this week:
"Yes, start drinking early. [...] Get nice and loud. 4:15 to play, plenty of time to lubricate in place. Come here, and bravo for the home team."In other words, Brady has been said thousands of people to do exactly what they intend to do for months: going to the Patriots home opener, drinking in the parking lot and then encourage the team to enter. It was an apparent no, no, the Patriots issued a statement later saying censor Brady's comments. "He was referring to" stay hydrated, drink lots of water, "said the team is not convincing.
Good work, PR flacks patriots. Way to draw attention to the comment, which was completely noncontroversial. People drink in parking lots. Unless you wear a shirt, Under Armour, Uggs, and his feet are feathered hair like David Cassidy, none of them will be more or less, because Tom Brady said.
It's good for the team responsible for promoting tailgating. It can be done without being moralistic naive and acts as the Gillette Stadium parking lot doubles as a church picnic.
However, it is important to be hydrated on Sunday. The game time temperature in Foxboro should be sweltering 63 degrees.
